In the Garden of Gethsemans, Jesus was abandoned by His followers but not by His Father. In that garden, Jesus submitted to His Father’s will and to the cross so that we can live securely in God’s presence in this life and for all eternity.

Medium: Watercolor pencil and permanent marker.
Scripture: Psalm 56:3-4 (NIV) “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
Inspired by: When We Pray Like Jesus by Elisa Morgan.
Reflection: After reading the book When We Pray Like Jesus by Elisa Morgan, I will never again feel that God doesn’t understand what I may be going through. In the Garden of Gethsemane the night before His death, we see how Jesus, Who was fully God, was also fully human in His mental agony. Sorrowful and troubled, He expressed what He wanted but yielded to what was more important, what His Father wanted. My drawing/painting represents how He was abandoned by His followers but not by His Father. It gives me hope to realize that, no matter how alone I feel, I can trust my Father who will never leave or forsake me. Jesus was not abandoned in the garden but submitted to the cross so that I could live securely in His presence in this life and for all eternity.
Pray : Father, thank You that I am never alone and that, in every circumstance, You are always there to hold me and allow Your plan for my life to unfold. Help me to trust you. Amen.
