Scripture: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. Psalm 19:1-4 NIV
Source of Inspiration: Amazing Grace by Kenneth W. Osbeck/Hymn, “This Is My Father’s World”
Reflect: My life recently went through a shattering time. I had seen something that shocked me. I was asking the age-old question of “Where is God in this?” In the song, “This Is My Father’s World,” one phrase particularly resonated with me: “The wrong seems oft so strong.” The song continues, “God is the Ruler yet.” This reminded me that the one and only God is on the throne and in control;, nothing surprises Him.
I painted the planets of our solar system to describe the orbital beauty and majesty of the heavens that manifest God’s glory and power. The song also says, “and to my list’ing ears, all nature sings and around me rings, the music of the spheres.” These lyrics tell us the heavens have a message for those who listen.
The musical notes in the image are from the song.
Pray: Dear Father, let me be conscious today of those created things that point to your majesty, power and glory, and most of all, that you are the Ruler and that you are in control when there are wrongs, neglect and devastation in this world. Guide my eyes and ears to recognize you in the moments of my day.
