Change is hard. But in the hands of God, every step in every season reveals God’s gentle care for every detail.
By Cheryl Barr, based on Isaiah 46:4 (NIV): Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Reflection: My husband and I are at another juncture in life. A change is ahead. After gathering and accumulating for 55 years, it’s time to thin out our possessions. We don’t know where we’re moving to, but it’s time to downscale from a family-sized house with large yard to a smaller home with less upkeep. In the past, God has always faithfully provided what we needed each time we moved.
As I look at the sea of unknowns, God reminds me repeatedly to follow His leading each day. Bit by bit, God is showing me what to pass along and what to keep. We can count on Him to give us His wisdom as we move forward. The revelation of where to go will come at the right time, even though the answer may linger.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of the end
and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it will certainly come
and will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3 NIV
How can we doubt a God who created this amazing world and all that is in it? His glory surrounds us. We simply need to pause and absorb it. Our questions and quandaries become minute when we recognize God’s greatness slathered with His unending, unconditional love for us.
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 NASB
Prayer: Lord, I place my hope in You. Thank You for your constant care for us throughout our years. I trust You for daily energy and wisdom as we make decisions and prepare for our next season of life. I don’t know what the future holds, but You do. I trust You to direct our path. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.
