Title: Positioning. An Artist / Gardener’s View of Job 42:5.
Artist: Debbie Gustafson.
Medium: Acrylic paint and medium, pen on card stock with computer generated wording.
Scripture: “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.” Job 42:5 NKJV.
Source of Inspiration: In the Eye of the Storm by Max Lucado.
Reflection: We construct our lives to flourish and mature, and, in the process, we carve out our niche, become comfortable in it, and define our life by it. Unaware of many of the spiritual aspects clarified for us today, Job feared God and journeyed in the “seen” realm. When he found himself losing aspects of life in which many people anchor themselves, he remained focused on God. Yet Job’s understanding was limited, and God wanted him to POSITION himself as the created and not the Creator.
Thus, God asked him some hard questions like “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?” In response, Job came to understand his position in relation to God and chose to reposition himself before God.
I have painted the beauty of the Tiger Lily as it starts from a small corm that uses contractile roots to position itself in the soil (the unseen) resulting in its optimal growth. This relates to Job’s journey of positioning himself to the Loving, Creator God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, as I desire to grow and flourish in your love, provide me the insight and discernment to position and align myself with you.
