Scripture: Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done. Luke 22:42.
Source of Inspiration: When We Pray Like Jesus by Elisa Morgan.
Reflect: What do you do when God’s will and your will are as far apart as the two sides of a coin that will never see each other? Jesus had this dilemma as he prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was praying with deep honesty to his Father. He prayed until he could honestly say, not Myy will, but Your will. This type of praying happens as one processes and grapples with what we understand of the purposes of God and the situations in which we find ourselves.
I have painted a youth honestly processing through his will and his heavenly Father’s will, working towards heartfelt submission in a world that cries out for us to give priority to our own desires.
Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, help me draw away from the busy world to meet with You. Help me find the words to be honest with You. Help me see what my desires are and what Your calling is. Help me to pray, journal, and process this choice until I wholeheartedly want what You want and live in obedience to that. Amen.
