Title: Simple Pleasures
Medium: Watercolor
Scripture: Psalm 37:4 NLT “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” Matthew 18:3 “. . . unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Reflect and Pray: 2021 was tough. It reminds me of when I cut into an onion one evening and found a large bad spot that began at the bottom and penetrated upwards into the heart of the onion. As I cut further, I discovered I could salvage a good portion. So that started me thinking. What could I salvage from the past year?
I thought of my beautiful granddaughter and how she models the beauty of enjoying simple things. I thought of how important it is to be grateful for those things, even in the hardest years. I wanted to live as she does, finding delight in everyday events and blessings.
Heavenly Father, help me treasure my gratitudes and teach me how to be thankful for the simple pleasures of life. You see my heart. You know all my thoughts and attitudes. Please, Father, as I navigate the challenges of life, give me grace to develop and maintain a childlike faith that delights in the security of Your love and power. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
