A lot of people don’t see God unless they don’t have anything else to see, but true faith is believing without seeing, and when we have nothing else to see, it’s easier to see God.
By Delaney F., Concordia Academy, Roseville, MN, Grade 10.
Medium: Acrylic Paint.
Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) “So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”
Reflection: The major theme of my artwork is repenting. The hands held up in surrender before the church could sort of communicate that, but the main message is that a lot of people don’t see God unless they don’t have anything else to see. They call out to God when they have nothing left. I call my piece “The Inevitable Repent,” because when the end comes, a lot of people will surrender because they have witnessed wonders and believe in God. But true faith is believing without seeing, and when we have nothing else to see, it’s easier to see God. True faith is being able to look through everything going on in our lives and see God.
My faith has really taken a turn for the better throughout this whole project. I’ve gone to church with my grandparents for inspiration because the pastor (also a painter) incorporates videos of his paintings into his sermons. I’ve loved working on my project, and I hope I’ve been able to communicate what I see in it to the viewers.
